The recent lifting of the Twitter ban by the Federal Government of Nigeria after 222 days, despite economic losses of about N546.5 billion; is a step in the right direction.
The President Muhammadu Buhari led administration should be commended for allowing reason to prevail, Patience Ndidi Key has said.
Speaking at a press conference, Patience Ndidi Key noted that we should not overlook the benefits of the ban in itself as we need to imbibe the culture of doing it right as a nation.
“However, Freedom of Speech, Expression and Media are the inalienable rights of all Nigerians, which the present administration benefitted hugely from.
I can assure you that a Patience Ndidi Key Presidency would restore these fundamental principles that are the ingredients of democracy the world over.
Now that the ban has been lifted, I implore all and sundry to be responsible in the use of the Twitter platform for the betterment of the Nigerian society and monitoring of the activities of the government so as to make those holding power in trust for the people, accountable to the Nigerian people”, she said.
