Nigerian billionaire gifts 750 million Naira to 750 students

28 Oct 2023

Hi folks,

Done and dusted with the Nigeria elections petititions tribunal, Nigerian billionaire, Mr. Femi Otedola makes the news in a big way.

Otedola was on Thursday 26th October, inducted as the chancellor of Augustine University Lagos, a Catholic university located in Otedola’s hometown, Epe, in Lagos State.

During the induction, as the chancellor of the university, an emotionally touched Otedola asked the VC of the school, “How many students does the school have?

He was told the school hosts 750 students.

Later in his address to the guests, he announced a donation of 750 million naira to the students, which was 1 million naira per student, which is his own way of subsiding the hardship that the students are going through, but most importantly, giving back to a society that had given him so much.

The best part of the whole experience was the presence of his nonagenarian mom.

This is the type of news that should characterise our media space.

On the flip side, Nigerians are seriously demanding accountability and compassion from the leadership of the country.

Remember to make someone smile today, through your acts of kindness.

Yours,

Ilupeju B
