DICE The Movie PREMIERES ACROSS THE GLOBE

3 May 2023

Hi Folks,

Trust your week has been productive so far. It has been quite hectic trying to wrap my thoughts on what could possibly fly ahead of the upcoming Nigeria presidential inauguration which will take place on the 29th of May 2023. I have every reason to keep running around as I owe you THAT duty to bring sights and possibly sounds from the much anticipated program.

Let inauguration wait jor. My weekend was lit, that is, if we add Sunday to the weekend. It was fun all the way.

Just as the title of my letter reads, I was live at the premiere of the movie DICE, you can imagine the series of events that ‘rolls’ with the dice. Dice the movie wasn’t much of a difference. I didn’t go alone as I was accompanied by the famous Solomon Oladimeji, the brain behind the popular series, “Solomon’s Diary” and his super cool brother, James. I’ll skip the events that preceded our arrival at the Silverbird Galleria venue of the premiere.

We were welcomed to the venue by a beautiful performance from a traditional dance troupe IjoEazy, featuring Eyo masquerade. It was a site to behold.

We promptly headed to the third floor where the cinema halls were housed.

A sea of beautiful people( male & female) and gorgeously dressed in traditional African attire held us captivated as we ascended the cinema area.

Shalewa Ologuro was on ground to spice things up with her chilled “oguro”! Oguro looks much like palm-wine but it’s from a different tree; the Raffia palm tree.

The red carpet area was enough teaser for what you were to see in the movie. Lanre Afod was good company whilst Demola Allwell and Rotimi Salami brought extra energy into the room.

About Dice the Movie

Produced and Directed by Marc Adebesin & AJ Fashina, Dice is a Nigerian/Kenyan thriller about a stock broker who because of constant workplace bullying decides to team up with a female colleague, that is being sexually harassed by the owner of the company. They decide to get revenge together in an unethical way that ends catastrophically.

AJ’s (Demola Adedoyin) story is full of intrigues and challenges and interestingly speaks to the experience of young folks across the globe. You can better appreciate this engaging movie when you watch it at the cinema. The movie Dice will be showing in cinemas across Nigeria, Kenya, UK and the rest of the world from the 5th of May 2023. The humility of Ruth (Brenda Wairimu) will make you wonder where the thought that decent girls are no longer in existence came from.

Speaking of bullying, you need to see Emeka (Bolanle Ninalowo) bring bullying on real time in shirt and tie. As usual Bolanle brings swag into badboyism.

Dice brings those experiences that we sometimes assume to be peculiar to particular countries home and exposes the fact that sexual harassment and bullying is a global phenomenon.

I must confess, I need to see Dice one more time as I know there was much more than this my highlight, don’t ask why my attention was divided, ‘cos I won’t even answer you. I just needed to let you know how much fun I had at the premiere. And I did have a great time.

Any one heard of Bar 38, around Fadeyi, Lagos? Well, the experience can best be imagined. Ask Solomon Oladimeji when you see him.

My advice to you is, don’t let the season pass without treating yourself to this interesting movie.

Remember to make someone smile today through your acts of kindness.

Yours,

Ilupeju B.
