Stay At Home Dissidents in Lagos Meet Their Waterloo

9 Apr 2020

Hi Folks,

It is not the best of times for some work-out buffs in Nigeria as the next 14 days of their lives will be spent in isolation and when found in good health will proceed to 30 days of community service.

It looks a lot like people do not understand the gravity or the dangers of contracting the Corona Virus Disease. There have been talks of the dreaded disease being one for the rich and elites.

Hear this! Covid-19 is a respecter of nobody and will deal with anyone who falls prey.

It is understandable that boredom sets in but it is only the living that can work-out. If you must work out, it is better to do it within your homes or at worst maintain reasonable distance from others.

Yesterday, 78 people were arrested from different parts of Lagos for disobeying the stay at home and social distancing order as they took to the streets to engage in various activities. The police succeeded in arresting 78 of them.

They will be tested and if positive will subjected to 14 days in isolation and possibly be sentenced to 30 days of community service if found guilty.

Looters invaded a storage facility in the Abule-Egba area of Lagos; carting away relief materials that were to be distributed to the residents. Police are still on the trail of the looters.

Well meaning Nigerians are still distributing relief materials across Nigeria, notable among these are; Deji Adeleke (Davido’s father), Hon. Shina Peller,Tony Elumelu, Ex-VP Atiku Abubakar and so on. The call is still on to get more Nigerian to help their neighbors as people’s stocks are getting depleted.

Where are the beneficiaries?

Still on Covid-19 relief, controversies trail the disbursement of twenty thousand naira to 2.6 million Nigerians by the Federal Government.

COVID-19 Lockdown: Why LASG Drops Charges Against Naira Marley ...

Funke Akindele and hubby begin 14 days isolation ahead of the 30 days community service sentence as Naira Marley and Gbadamosi gets soft landing.

Gbadamosi and Naira Marley had earlier on Monday turned themselves in to the police after flouting the state government’s restriction order on social distancing.

This was after they attended a party organised by Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele Bello in celebration of her husband’s birthday, Abdulrasheed Bello popularly known as JJC Skillz.

The couple were arraigned on Monday and sentenced to one week of community service and asked to pay a fine of N100,000 each. Accolades are pouring in for Funke Akindele and JJC for not considering an alternative or soft-landing on this case.

Whatever you do, stay indoors and maintain good hygiene.

Yours,

Ilupeju B
