So Much Drama in High Places Across Nigeria

20 Jul 2020

Hi Folks,

Now that we are gradually adapting to the new normal instituted by the the advent of Covid-19. The drama is gradually returning to Nigeria.

The Covid-19 lock down experience is still with us despite the fact that people can move around provided they have their nose masks on, the continued closure of schools is still a major set back according to what the streets are saying.

However, what seems to be on the rise is the drama in high place in my dear country. First, it was the fall of Ibrahim Magu of the EFCC, then before we could heave a sigh of relief; the NDDC palaver followed, Nigerians are quietly looking to see what the outcome of the NSITF probe will be.

Earlier today, the Acting Managing Director of the Niger Delta Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Kemebradikumo Pondei, slumped while the House of Representatives members probing the misuse of N81 billion interrogated him. The popular view to the incidence is that the gentleman was only acting a script.

Pondei was however ferried out of the venue of the investigative hearing chaired by the chairman of the House Committee on Niger Delta, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo at about 1:00 pm.

Some members of the committee, who felt Pondei’s action must have been stage-managed, failed in their bid to stop sympathisers from taking Pondei away for medical attention.

Pondei was being grilled over alleged extra-budgetary expenditure incurred while he was on the saddle between February to date.

The development forced the lawmakers to adjourn the probing session abruptly for 15 minutes to enable them to determine whether to continue the probe.

I can imagine what the coming days will be in my dear country. What do you think?

Remember that Corona Virus disease is still very much with us and ensure you follow the Covid-19 protocols accordingly.

Yours,
