Is it really a keg of gun powder or noise in the market place?

19 Feb 2021

Hi Folks,

Sleep has continually eluded me as I think about the events serenading my country, the giant of Africa.

Interestingly, I awoke to the good news that Nigeria’s economy slipped out of depression yesterday. Some good news I dare say.

The advent of bandits, killer herds men and Boko Haram has left us in perpetual fear.

You will recall that I feed you gist of all the beautiful things that abound in Lagos and Africa, but the story is different now.

Only recently, Niger state recorded two kidnappings barely 48hours apart. Rumors of war every where, and calls for citizens to defend themselves without arms against armed terrorist.

The lip service being paid by all is reason for my headline, “Is it really a kettle of gun powder or noise in the market place?”.

My opinion is that we have all the solutions but lack the political will to pull it off.

And if you ask me, I’d say yes; let us adopt community policing, let herders leave the forests and let states provide grazing reserves for commercial use.

Enough of the killings, let our country return to the good old days where respect for human lives was the norm.

Need I say more? Please share your thoughts and pass word to the authorities to take action before it is too late.

Remember to make someone smile today with your acts of kindness.

Yours,

Ilupeju B
