Football legend and Argentina world cup winner, Diego Maradona has died at the age of 60, Matias Morla, Maradona’s longtime agent, confirmed to EFE.

 

The Gimnasia coach had been hospitalised at the start of November, days after celebrating the landmark birthday, after complaining of low spirits and fatigue.

He was hospitalised and underwent brain surgery and was released on Nov. 11.

Maradona was subsequently discharged from hospital as an outpatient to continue his convalescence, which he carried out in his dwelling in a private neighbourhood near Tigre, northern Buenos Aires.

He won the 1986 World Cup with Argentina and also played for Barcelona at club level as well as Napoli, who he helped lead to the Serie A title.
